Final Project Part 2- Portrait

What do you see?
Michelle is standing behind branches from a tree, beside a fence. If you see closely there trees far behind her.  She is wearing a plaid shirt and a high bun. The light is coming from the top right corner.

How is the work organized?
Texture is seen in nature. Their is not really a focal point that I wanted to capture, that is why movement and rhythm are present through the branches that are connected. There is also perspective present in the photo, because you can see the fence getting smaller and further into the distance. The red accents of the shirt and the green color of the leaves complement each other very giving the photo a nice color theme.

What is the artist trying to communicate?
My intention of this portrait was to show how people are connected and affected by nature. We should take care of nature and be aware of contamination.

What  do you think of the work?
I think it was successful. I like that the plants did not overwhelmed the presence of the model.

Final Project Part 1- Series

What do you see?
In each photo the model is emphazised a different way surrounding her the dry nature. In two photos her entire body is shown in the photo. The other two only a part of her body like head and feet.

How is the work organized?
I emphasize the model by plain surrounding and natural lighting. Also by shooting from different angles in each one. For example the one where she is laying in the ground.

What is the artist trying to communicate?
Their really isn't an intention for the series, they just relate by the surroundings and different angles from the model.

What do you think about it?
I really enjoyed shooting the series and liked the outcome.

Album Cover

What do you see?
Two legos. a cube, a big L, shadows, a monochromatic background and an album cover.

How is the work organized?
The structures and the legos are in a line parallel to the sun. This produces the shadows to create the sinister background and atmosphere of the photo.

What is the artist trying to communicate?
The fear and frightening moment of a person, creates the sinister atmosphere for the metal album cover.

What do you think of the work?
I think it was one of my best photos, it really looks like an album cover.

Series

What do you see?
One stuffed animal in each photograph. Nature is included in the surroundings of each stuffed animal.

How is the work organized?
The bottom two are taken from above. The top one is taken from below the bird looking up. In each one shadows from the grass or leaves are created by the sun. The bottom two stuffed animals are located below the horizon line and the top one above the horizon line.

What is the artist trying to communicate?
The relation for the photographs is that all the stuffed animals are representing real ones in their own common surroundings. The bird is in a tree with its nest, the bunny popping out of the hole and the sheep in the grass.

What do yo think of the work?
I think the theme really worked and made the photographs have a connection. I really enjoy the series because it meets my interest of cute stuffed animals. The one thing that I would change would be in the photograph of the sheep, remove the blue object in the right upper corner that I was not aware of.

Self Expression

 What do you see?
A girl sitting in a chair holding a question mark. The background is art.

How is the work organized?
The background stands out with color even with the dull color. The main focus is the girl, she creates shadow and value.

What is the artist trying to communicate?
I am questioning art. This is my first year in a performing art school. Seeing all this art is amazing, but what is the composition about?

What do you think of the work?
I think I represented my concept well . If could change anything it would be lighted right section that does not belong to the set.

Ted Talks

Reflection #1 - Much of the market is not selling this products because they want to improve the electrical devices gradually.Who can blame them they want our money. This technology is able to become known through ted talks and speeches of the creators. It can help a lot of people in their way of improving daily life.

Reflection #2- Technology has improved since the last century way faster than we thought. Lifespan has increased faster to the point that in a triangle the old people are not the pointy part anymore but the top side of a square. Statitics say that older people are happier than younger people. I think that younger people should recognize that life has an ending and that we should enjoy it.

What do you see?
I see a senior sketching her favorite teddy bear. The senior is sitting in a chair and the teddy bear is placed in a little table.

How is the work organized?
I used tungsten lighting to iluminate the set. Their is color  in the wardrobe and the teddy bear. The color pops because of the black background. Value is shown because of the lighting and creates a relaxed atmosphere.

What is the artist trying to communicate?
The relationship of the young adult with the teddy bear. The setting represents that while she is sketching her most loving toy nothing else is more important, the darkness portrays that. The lighting is her happiness and joyfulness that she feels in that moment.

What do you think of the work?
Yes, I liked the composition and its meaning behind it. What I would fix is her face to be more in focus.

Principles of Design Project

Our project is about representing the principles of design with photographs
that have a theme. We choose vintage fashion as a theme through wardrobe that
the models would wear.

Balance: the dress with flower relates to nature in the background.
Light source: scrim

Contrast: the black and white color makes contrast in the photograph.
Light source: tungsten

Emphasis: as the model is doing motion she is more emphasized than the plain background.
Light source: sun in front of the model.

Pattern: the repetition of a pattern is shown in the dress.
Light source: tungsten

Unity: the models create oneness with the same style ofwardrobe
and how they are holding their hands.
Light source: north light

Scrim assigment

 What do you see?
I see a girl lying in grass. She is wearing a plaid shirt with a mustache necklace.
Her hand is reaching out to a flower.
How is the work organized?
The plaid shirt gives a well contrast with the lines. For the background there is light
so the background wouldn't  extend into dark grass and we get different tones.
What is the artist trying to communicate?
I am not sure I just thought it look pretty, but it haves a soft happy feeling.
What do you think of the work?
I think it wast succesful. I liked the different tones and contrast and it in focus.

North Light

What do you see?
A girl with dark curly hair, she is wearing a jacket with a dark shirt. She is holding a curly iron while looking at her hand.
How is the work organized?
I set the model to look in pain. The hair gives the photo texture. Her hair and shirt gives good contrast in tones.
What is the artist trying to communicate?
That she is in pain because she got a little burned with the curling iron.
What do you think of the work?
I think it was succesful. I got the emotion, the contrast and the focus right.
